Then war broke out in Heaven. Michael and His angels fought against the dragon, who fought back with his angels, but the dragon was defeated, and he and his angels were not allowed to stay in Heaven any longer.

Revelation 12: 7 & 8

A long time ago God created the world we live on. He made the animals, flowers and all of the trees. But best of all He made a man and a woman. They were very happy in their Eden home.

Before God created the world, He created angels (Colossians 1:16). The angels were very happy. They loved to worship God. They never fought. They were unselfish and kind. They loved to sing to God.

 The most talented of all the angels and the best looking was Lucifer. He had clothes made of every pretty kind of rock that could be found in Heaven. (Ezekiel 28: 12-15) He was called Lucifer which means light bearer. He carried beautiful lighted stones.

He became proud of being handsome. (Ezekiel 28: 17) He wanted to be worshipped like God was. He was prince of the angels but he wanted a higher position.

He wanted to be included in counsels between God and Jesus. He wanted to help when they made the world. Lucifer told more and more angels how he should have a higher position. He was trying to get all the angels on his team. He pretended that he was working to make more peace in Heaven.

God tried to help Lucifer see his mistake. But he would not listen. Finally God made him leave Heaven. God changed his name from Lucifer to Satan which means adversary or enemy of God. He was not the brightest angel anymore. One third of the angels in Heaven left with him. He had a BIG team.

Satan was so angry. He made up his mind to be mean and hateful to anyone that loves God. In Revelation Satan is also called a dragon. Those who love God are called the pure woman. In Revelation 12: 17 the Bible says that the dragon was furious with the woman and went off to fight against the rest of her offspring or her children. Her children are those who obey God's commandments and are faithful to the truth revealed by Jesus.

Why didn't God just kill evil Satan? If He had, the other angels in Heaven that almost left with Satan would have obeyed God from fear. They would have been afraid that God would send them away from their wonderful home. God wants us to obey His laws because we love Him NOT because we are afraid.
