Death is like sleeping. When the trumpet sounds, the dead will be raised, never to die again, never to die again, and we shall all be changed. 1 Corinthians 15: 52

Little Jerry was a baby who did not live. There were many who came to help his mommy feel better. They were so kind. They gave flowers and cards. Then little Jerry was put in a box in the ground.

For a long time his mommy felt very sad. Then three months later when people laughed it did not hurt any more. Then one day she heard the birds singing. She was surprised because she could laugh again. Then eleven months later a baby girl was born. She makes everyone laugh. She helped to heal up the broken hearts. But no one will ever take Jerry's place.

The Bible tells us what happens when you die. In Ecclesiastes 9: 5- 10 it says that the living people know that they will die someday; but the dead do not know anything. They do not do any work and they are not smart. In Psalms 146: 4 it says that the dead person stops thinking. Jesus called death a kind of sleep. Jesus woke up Lazarus who had been dead for three days (John 11: 11). He said Lazarus was sleeping. I think that He meant that Lazarus would wake up again at the resurrection.

Jesus promised that He would come in the clouds and wake up the dead. In John 5: 28, 29 it says, "All that are in the graves will heaer God's voice and come forth."

In 1 Thessalonians 4: 16 it says that the dead in Christ will rise first.

These Bible verses are a comfort to Jerry's mother. She knows that her baby is resting in his dusty bed. He is not watching the pain and sadness in his family. He is sleeping. He sleeps until Jesus wakes him up. Then the angel's strong arms will take him to his mother if she is faithful. What a special day that will be. Jesus will take away all sadness and crying. He will take away all sickness and death.
