Let It Shine

Mathew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
5:15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
God's church is represented by the Revelation 12:1 woman who reflects heaven's lights to the world.
Stories are told of how hard it is to see the shore at night when you are swimming in the ocean. A simple light on the shore can help the person keep swimming in the right direction. If there is no light, the poor swimmer could get lost and die by becoming exhausted swimming the wrong way. Your little light of encouragement may keep someone turning to Jesus Who is the light of the world.
Hold up your light, you heaven bound soldier. Someone far from harbor you may guide through dangerous spots and bring them to Jesus. Would you like to learn how to shine brighter?

And all the way up the steep road leading to eternal life are well-springs of joy to refresh the weary. Those who walk in wisdom's ways are, even in tribulation, exceeding joyful; for He whom their soul loves, walks, invisible, beside them. At each upward step they discern more distinctly the touch of His hand; at every step brighter gleaming of glory from the Unseen fall upon their path; and their songs of praise, reaching ever a higher note, ascend to join the songs of angels before the throne. "The path of the righteous is as the light of dawn, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day" (Prov. 4:18, R.V., margin). {AG 264.6}Amazing Grace by Ellen White

The Brightness is only from God. Nothing in us can do this.

1.        Pray for it. Pray for sanctification of His Spirit

2.        Walk closely

3.        Willing obedience  to all His commandments and recommendations, ignore nothing. Strive to follow all health rules, all policies no matter how difficult. He will help.

4.     Willingly love even the unloving, the poor, the handicapped, the outcast, and love the rich, and the hateful. I Corinthians 13

5.        Place self where God can enlighten

6.    Look to Jesus for help (Spend a thoughtful hour each day studying His life. Do things His way)

7.    Make God your dependence

  1. Go forth unconscious of brightness, looking to Jesus not self, making no display
When the day dawns, the light is faint and subdued; but as the sun rises, its light increases and strengthens, until its rays reach the perfect day.
This is the way in which the Christian's light is to increase. We are to know more of Christ today than we knew yesterday;
we are to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior; we are to trust him more in trial and difficulty, looking to him as the author and finisher of our faith. {RH, April 14, 1891 par. 12}
Trials can also cause the brighter reflection if they are endured as a trusting soldier.
