Psalms 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Always before beginning a trip, this dear Christian couple ask God to be with them. These people had for more than 20 years worked hard in the church to make very interesting children's programs. In 1980 they encouraged me to try. For almost 9 years I worked with them in the church children's meetings. I started before I had children. They knew my children since they were one week old. Tom has unusual skills in making props. The lions den, whale, fiery furnace, and little boat for the sea of Galilee he made for our Bible stories really made church interesting for children. The best work he did was preparing the props for the sanctuary program that I have taken all over the world. Thousands have come to love and understand Jesus better because of his visual aids. These friends are the most loving people I have ever met. |
He prays about his work and God blesses him with genius ability to make fold up cardboard look like a real solid piece of furniture. He designed my first portable sanctuary set in "93" when I was headed into Siberia. It was carefully preserved by holy angels through many set ups and take downs in over 11 country visits and many America programs. The solid wood set he made is used locally. I have to use a trailer to get all the props set up. Currently since India, this portable cardboard set has been rendered out of commission and he is praying about finding the materials to make us a new set for our next mission trip. I thank God for this dear couple who have been part of my evangelism team to reach millions. Visual aids are critical in teaching deep topics. |
Tom
and Bonnie had a new grandchild being born July 8 so they headed off to
Denver, Colorado. The next day in another state, Bonnie's father died.
They went for his funeral in Kansas. Then they had plans for special time
with the grandkids back in Colorado. They had a very busy July. We
were staying with them June 29-July 8 and doing a children's program on
the book of Daniel.
They had left for Colorado later than expected for there were so many details they wanted to finish up in their home. As the miles stretched on and on, sleepiness crept over Tom. His wife Bonnie took over the driving while he got a little rest. Then she had the same problem so he drove for awhile. Back and forth the juggled the driving responsibilities. |
Their beloved little grandson was carefully buckled into his car seat in the back seat. There were plans in Bonnie's mind to stop as soon as there was a rest stop. She could sleep well and then they both could face the long hours ahead with open eyes. |
Suddenly the car left the road waking up Tom. He grabbed the wheel to save them but the car rolled and zoomed along on it's roof till the momentum of 70 mph was finally dissipated. It ended facing oncoming traffic. There were medics who followed them right down and helped them. Tom had whiplash and Bonnie a concussion. Their little grandson was safe and sound in his car seat without a scratch on him. To look at the car, it was obvious there was a special miracle they survived the roll. Tom remembers only rolling once but the police officer thinks it happened twice. God had answered our prayers for their safety. I had been praying daily for a special blessing on these dear people during their time of stress. They had fed us well during our visit. We had the five star royal treatment. It helped us recover from our recent India trip. God promises those who receive His missionaries are receiving HIM. The prophet's reward is promised to those who show love and care to His servants. They had prayed for safety and God kept them miraculously through this event. The car was totaled. God worked it out so a friend of theirs needed to see a doctor in Denver and offered them a ride back home. |
Tom said he wondered why they were preserved when
so many are not. I thought of the assurance we have that our life is
secure in the Master's hands until our work is done. God still has work
for this loving couple. I am so grateful their lives were preserved.
I know one of their jobs is making another sanctuary set for travel into other countries. |
Story happened July 2002
Years
ago (1955) when my husband was only three he lived in Alaska while his dad served
in the army. His grandpa had moved to Alaska during the great depression.
Now it was time for Ron's dad to go to pharmacy school. The family was
driving from Alaska through Canada to Pullmon, Washington. His mom and dad
took turns driving the station wagon.
Driving through the night it was his mom's turn at the wheel. She had felt very exhausted and all in the car were snoring. Suddenly she awoke realizing that she was out of control. The car was rolling along in the ditch. They had just missed landing in a great big lake. When the car came to a stop, she was really shaken up. Little Ron climbed through a hole in the windshield that his body had made during the roll. He was crying but not hurt much. He was asking his mom to please get the car back on the road where it belonged. |
In the back seat tall six foot dad was lying on the little baby. No one was hurt much. Even the baby was not killed. It was a real miracle for it seemed impossible. This was long before seat belts even existed. It was amazing for the car was ruined. I am glad God spared this little family who needed help that night. My dear husband's life was spared so he could do the work God had planned for him. |
