The
heart pumps more blood with each heartbeat. The healthy heart has a slower
rate. If you just lower the rate from 70 to 60 beats per minute, you can
save your heart 14,000 beats a day.
The vessel size and number of smaller vessels increases which is
helpful if there is ever a blockage. There is less chance of a blockage in
a system that has been exercising frequently.
There are so many good things that exercise does for the heart. Even
the blood pressure is regulated by exercise.
When exercising, the muscles in the legs squeeze 2-3 pints of blood
with each step. The more you make the blood circulate, the more your body
is nourished with oxygen and needed food for each cell. |
