How to Be Ready

Home Up Signs of the End How to Be Ready Bridesmaids As it was in the Days As it was in days of Lot As it was in the days of Nineveh Sabbath Test Tricks by Evil Angels Emergency Preparedness

The owner of a new boat made sure he had a strong trailer and hitch to pull his boat. He prepared well. His pickup was a nice new one. Suddenly as he was driving down the road, he for some reason slipped over the edge of a cliff. The boat and trailer did not follow. Miraculously the truck dangled by its hitch. This strong trailer hitch is an example of being anchored in Jesus. If we accidentally fall, we will not die for He will not allow it. He will not allow the righteous to be moved. Psalms 55:22. The driver's life and truck value totally depended on the strength of the hitch and how well he fastened it together. The same is true for the Christian. Preparation for a time of trial is important. We are warned that the end of the world will be terribly difficult. We need to prepare. How can this be done?

Joseph was warned that there would be 7 years of famine in Egypt. He helped the Pharoah get ready. How do we prepare for the final time on this earth? Does Jesus tell us how?
As a young girl, I heard everyone saying to get ready. I wondered how I could do that. I began looking everywhere in the Bible and started making a list of things I could do so I would be ready. Are you wondering how to get ready? When you go to another country, you need to pack a suitcase to get ready. How can you get ready for a disaster? There are lists of recommending things all wise people do who expect an earthquake. But what does the Christian do to get ready for the very last day events?

We need to look at the things the Bible says we need.

1. Faith in God. You will need a faith that can make it through hungry times, cold, and delay. You need a faith that helps you keep believing in God even if you are very tired and sick.

To increase this faith, remember all the times Jesus answered your prayers and thank Him. Keep a list handy to remember what He has done for you and others. Pull out your list when you are tired, hungry and discouraged. Read the stories in the Bible of how God worked for others. Read the stories of others in modern times who had their prayers answered. See my 85 stories of answered prayer on www.larom.org. Click on the button of " Prayer Answers". Then there are the stories of others under "God Answers"
Things which decrease your faith must be thrown away. (Things like time consuming games, toys like pokeman and books like Harry Potter series which lead you to think of Satan's power not God's. You need to throw away music that has ideas from Satan on how fun it is to break the 10 commandments. Pray about what you have that might be decreasing your faith and God will teach you.)

2. Store the teachings of Jesus in your heart.

"Thy word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against you. Ps. 119:1

"Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart; so does the sweetness of a man's friend to by hearty counsel." Prov. 27:9 Often human friends absorb the love and trust that should be given to God alone. Your only safety and happiness are in making Jesus your constant counselor. You can be happy in Him if you did not have another friend. Read what He says. Read His teachings in Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John. Jesus is a friend to the friendless. God will be nearer to you if you pick close friends who love to study God's WORD.

3. Beware of the Hard Heart

 To day if you hear His voice, harden not your heart,..Ps. 95:7,8

When you are led to truth, do not neglect to obey or resist it as truth. Pharoah did that. Each time he rejected truth, his heart became hard as rock until he finally drown in the sea with his army.

4. Country Living- will avoid the  crime and disasters in the city and encourage more Bible study. You can also grow a garden. There is warning that labor unions will bring on a time of trouble such as never was since there was a nation. It makes sense that if you live in the city and suddenly no one can buy food, it could take only 3-7 days and people would be hungry. If you have a garden you can wait for the strike to end and the trucks to bring food to the stores again.

There is so much to do in the country. The work is always there. Activity keeps children out of mischief on the streets. Many are the reasons to follow this advice to live in the country. It may take some sacrifice to do this but it will be worth it. Isn't it great that our Kind heavenly Father gave us advice about what to do in the very worst time in the whole history of this earth?

The following list is interesting as it discusses advise for living in the country

 In 1903 one of my favorite Christian authors was told by God that there would be terrible trouble brought on by labor unions. It is urged that those who believe what God said, should stay out of labor unions and live on land they can grow gardens on and not have close neighbors.

"The trades unions will be one of the agencies that will bring upon this earth a time of trouble such as has not been since the world began."--Letter 200, 1903. {CL 10.2}Country Living by Ellen White

Conflicts Between Trade Confederacies and Labor Unions
"The work of the people of God is to prepare for the events of the future, which will soon come upon them with blinding force. In the world gigantic monopolies will be formed. Men will bind themselves together in unions that will wrap them in the folds of the enemy. A few men will combine to grasp all the means to be obtained in certain lines of business. Trades unions will be formed, and those who refuse to join these unions will be marked men.--Letter 26, 1903. {CL 10.3}
The time is fast coming when the controlling power of the labor unions will be very oppressive. Again and again the Lord has instructed that our people are to take their families away from the cities, into the country, where they can raise their own provisions; for in the future the problem of buying and selling will be a very serious one. We should now begin to heed the instruction given us over and over again: Get out of the cities into rural districts, where the houses are not crowded closely together, and where you will be free from the interference of enemies.--Letter 5, 1904. {2SM 141.1}

Men have confederated to oppose the Lord of hosts. These confederacies will continue until Christ shall leave His place of intercession before the mercy seat, and shall put on the garments of vengeance. Satanic agencies are in every city, busily organizing into parties those opposed to the law of God. Professed saints and avowed unbelievers take their stand with these parties. This is no time for the people of God to be weaklings. We cannot afford to be off
our guard for a moment.--Testimonies, vol. 8, p. 42 (1904). {2SM 141.2}
The trades unions will be one of the agencies that will bring upon this earth a time of trouble such as has not been since the world began.--Letter 200, 1903. {2SM 142.1}

The trades unions and confederacies of the world are a snare. Keep out of them, and away from them, brethren. Have nothing to do with them. Because of these unions and confederacies, it will soon be very difficult for our institutions to carry on their work in the cities. My warning is: Keep out of the cities. Build no sanitariums in the cities. Educate our people to get out of the cities into the country, where they can obtain a small piece of land, and make a home for themselves and their children.... {2SM 142.3} Selected Messages  by Ellen White
Erelong there will be such strife and confusion in the cities, that those who wish to leave them will not be able. {Mar 180.4}
We are not to locate ourselves where we will be forced into close relations with those who do not honor God. . . . A crisis is soon to come in regard to the observance of Sunday. . . . {Mar 180.5}
The Sunday party is strengthening itself in its false claims, and this will mean oppression to those who determine to keep the Sabbath of the Lord. . . . {Mar 180.6}
If in the providence of God we can secure places away from the cities, the Lord would have us do this. There are troublous times before us. {Mar 180.7} Maranatha by Ellen White
When we see prices of food going up, we are not to run buy up extra. Jesus said if we do that food will fill up with creatures and people will come take things from us. There is a promise that our bread and water will be provided by God. There are different parts to the time of trouble. There is a time of little trouble and a time of great trouble. There will be a time when growing things will greatly help provide us things to eat. Then later a time when robbers would come and clean out our gardens. Through it all we must trust the hand of God to provide. He always provides for all our needs. Phil. 4:19

"For two years past, the Lord has shown me in vision, repeatedly, that it is contrary to the Bible to make any provision for our temporal wants in the time of trouble. I saw that if the saints have food laid up by them, or in the fields, in the time of trouble when sword, famine, and pestilence are in the land, it will be taken from them by violent hands and strangers would reap their fields. Then will be the time for us to trust wholly in God, and he will sustain us. I saw that our bread and water would be sure at that time, and we should not lack, or suffer hunger.--The Lord has shown me that some of his children would fear when they see the price of food rising, and they would buy food and lay it by for the time of trouble. Then in a time of need, I saw them go to their food and look at it, and it had bred worms, and was full of living creatures, and not fit for use. About one week since, the Lord showed me in vision, that houses and lands would be of no use in the time of trouble, and in that time they could not be disposed of. I saw it was the will of God that the saints should cut loose from every encumbrance--dispose of their houses and lands before the time of trouble comes, and make a covenant with God by sacrifice. I saw they would sell if they laid their property on the altar and earnestly inquired for duty. Then God will teach them when to dispose of these things. Then they will be free in the time of trouble, and have no clogs to weigh them down. {Broadside2, January 31, 1849 par. 9}
I saw if they held on to their property, and did not inquire duty of the Lord, he would not make duty known, and they would be permitted to keep their property, and then in the time of trouble their property would come up before them like a mountain to crush them." These statements were written by my favorite Christian author Ellen White.
