A nice big cucumber hung on my vine in the green house garden. It had a yellow end on it. I picked it hoping it would add to the salad of lettuce and tomatoes I was making for lunch.
It tasted horrible. It was so bitter! Nobody enjoyed it.
Cucumbers need lots of water or they become bitter. On extra hot days they need more water. I had this pot of cucumbers growing near the top of the greenhouse where the temperatures get up to 120 degrees on sunny days if the door is shut.
On extra hot days I water three times.
Christians need lots of living water. You can drink this water by learning Bible lessons.
Hot days are like when everything goes wrong. On those days you need more drinks from your Bible lessons. If you are short on this water, you can become bitter, angry and pick a fight.
The first thing you need to do when you wake up is pray to God, then begin to read and study from the Bible. God will be your teacher if you ask Him.
When someone hurts you, just go read your Bible and spend time with Jesus. He will make you feel better.
"God speaks to us through His providential workings and through the influence of His Spirit upon the heart. In our circumstances and surroundings, the changes daily taking place around us, we may find precious lessons if our hearts are but open to discern them." STC 87
"Fill the whole heart with the words of God. They are the living water, quenching your burning thirst." STC 88
"There will be a hungering and thirsting of the soul to become like Him whom we adore. The more our thoughts are upon Christ, the more we shall speak of Him to others and represent Him to the world." STC 89
