Pillar of Fire
Pillar of Fire Above Sleeping Missionaries
src="http://illustratedbible.net/blog/data/upimages/pillar_cloud_day_Muzoty.jpg" />

Mathew 28: 19 & 20 “I am with you always even to the end of the world.”
Everywhere we go, we tell of the Pillar of cloud that God covered Himself with as He taught the one million Israelites the way of salvation. He spoke from that cloud. He kept Himself covered so as not to frighten the people. God had them build Him a tent (Ex. 25:8) and from this location, He stood or led them to other camping places.
Isaiah 4: 5 & 6 & Patriarchs & Prophets 283
“To those who keep the commandments, He will be a pillar of cloud by day, and a pillar of fire by night, to lighten and lead the way in the path cast up for the ransomed of the Lord to walk in.” Signs of the Times, July 19, 1899 par. 7
“In one of the most beautiful and comforting passages of Isaiah’s prophecy, reference is made to the pillar of cloud and of fire to represent God’s care for His people in the great final struggle with the powers of evil.” Patriarchs and Prophets 282 & 3.

PILLAR OF FIRE STORY
When opposition delayed our Sabbath services on the mountain, God taught me how to deal with it. He encouraged me to rest and wait for them to want the program.
God showed Himself over our meeting place. I was suffering from an abnormal heart rhythm and chest pain with shortness of breath after it was announced I could not have services as planned. After 9 months of trying to get the program as the locals requested, and 3 major set backs, theprogram was almost completed but now another road block. I asked God what to do. He gave me great peace. He encouraged me to rest and wait.

God had granted me the location of the government headquarters in their own building for my housing and meeting was held under the porch shelter for the tabernacle set up. Memories of the wild resistance welled up as I heard the plans from the mouth of the man who resisted the whole program in May. I had forgiven him before he requested it. (Read Slippery Mountain Story from May of 2007.)
The people were gathered by thousands on the grass in front of this spot. The government had all week provided generator, and water, and bedding, and furniture to sit on, table, and benches to put a mat on provided by a soldier. God had set it all up in neutral territory so many non churched individuals could freely attend and request baptism. I could appeal to them to stop the resistance but it would not bring unity. I prayed and God directed me to just rest and wait. After all, I had already presented a long early morning program.
A very small group of who had been present in May to resist our program were again bringing me grief. They had a great distance to walk and wanted to control what we did in our program. Since God had set the venue, God was the Commander in Chief of His program. They moved everything to 500 feet from the sanctuary and announced I could speak over there. Jenny told them the sanctuary had all the teaching tools needed just like a surgeon must have the tools to use for his work. It did not seem to help.

God just urged me to get a little rest while I had the chance. He allowed them to do their program but made sure His missionaries were gently cared for.
It was announced they were going to have their own program and pick up offerings and do their own Sabbath School and church for all 5 visiting churches. They asked me to have the divine service but away from my sanctuary set up. It was not possible. The Lord just whispered to me I could rest and wait till they were ready. The people were not going home anyway so we had all day.
Then a sister to the translator told me the holy joy in her heart as she saw something very important during the night. This message confirmed that God was helping us in more ways than we realized.
After the Friday evening message was finished about 9pm, she walked the road to her mountain and kept on going to her village. Before going home, they needed to have a committee meeting with church leaders. These people are used to walking great distances. We can hear them singing as they walk barefoot in the dark in the cold. Our translator’s sister saw something very fascinating back over the place where we had finished meetings. She looked back on the building from the other adjoining mountain and saw a pillar of fire. In the center was bright fire as Jesus was there, she was sure of it. She pointed it out to others walking with her. It gripped their hearts that God was showing He loved His missionaries doing His work. They were privileged to see something the soldiers guarding us never saw.
As she told this to me, she said to have no fear, though the committee had met to stop things, God would make His way happen. She knew God was with us. She saw Him represented in the cloud of fire and so did the others walking with her.
I had already preached for an hour and a half to many people. They had come at 5:30AM but the group was smaller than usual. I told them the Heaven program message would be delivered after they were finished with their own program, and I went to get some sleep. My heart was not functioning well. The rowdy group who were supposed to be helping stayed up shouting, talking loudly, laughing and making noise with doors and feet till after midnight each night. We obey the injunction by heaven to get to bed by 9pm or 10pm. Then God helps me awakened by 4AM to study Bible and pray for my own connection with Jesus. That leaves only 4 hours of rest. No matter how many times I told the “helpers”. They refused to cooperate. They stayed in another room right across the hall from us in the lodge. Friday night the rowdiness was due to the problem over services. All night Steven tried to get things to change. He finally called Reuben who negotiated and counseled leaders, helping the situation a little.
I was exhausted from the Bible hunger demands of 10 hours a day of Bible study all week plus clinic, plus trying to cook our own food plus trying to quiet the rowdy ones at night. That Sabbath morning as I completed the 5:30-7AM meeting, my heart arrhythmia and chest pain and shortness of breath made me was so uncomfortable and weak. Bed sounded great to me. If I could just rest some before doing the divine service. I was looking at a possible 5 hours wait.
Since all things work together for good, God would help this challenge to be a resting opportunity for me. I had an idea. I would just go to bed and sleep. Perhaps I was tired enough to sleep through their amplified singing and speaking and people knocking on our window from where they sat to watch the meeting. People kept pounding on our door, and calling Jenny to join but she was faithful to minister to her exhausted mom. Suddenly there was an announcement that they were turning the program over to the Americans. The people made a rush for a spot to see the sanctuary program and we received a burst of HEAVEN’S HEALING STRENGTH and POWER. The 4 hours rest were so helpful. We also had time to drink from our purified water bottles. The heart went into a normal rhythm, the dizziness subsided, the equipment was set up and we began our two part program on heaven. The program moved so many to want to be ready to meet Jesus and to go to heaven.
Afternoon meeting was helped by clouds and darkness making the pictures show up better than if done during the heat of the day. However, many had already gone home so the crowd had dwindled to half. Satan had succeeded in denying a great portion of people of the hope of heaven. But God had kept His missionary.
Just before leaving the mountain, a baptism was done in a mobile baptistery which is a trailer pulled behind a pickup. It is used in prisons and areas where there is no available baptistery. We were so thankful for the missionary minded members of the Kigali English Church who sponsored the fuel to get the unit up that steep mountain. I am sure the angels helped push in the worst places of that road. 212 people wanted baptism. 112 were prepared and baptized. Jenny found the others rejected due to age and gave them encouragement diplomas and Bibles. Soldiers were baptized. Right above the baptistery was a pillar of cloud.
Our dwelling by day had a cloud and by night had a pillar of fire. Pictures are of office building house we stayed in and also of baptistery with cloud above.
“”The pillar of cloud that was dark with terror and avenging wrath to the Egyptians, was to the people of God a pillar of fire for brightness. So it will be to the Lord’s people in these last days. The light and glory of God to His commandment-keeping people are darkness to the unbelieving.” That I May Know Him p. 356.4 by EGWhite
Ex 13:21 And the LORD went before them by day in the pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way, and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light, to go by day and night.
Ex. 14:24 And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians.
Ex. 33:10 And all the people saw the cloudy pillar stand at the tabernacle door and all the people rose up and worshipped, every man in his tent door.
Numbers 12:5 And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam, and they both came forth.
Numbers 12: 8 With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches, and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold; wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?
The Egyptians shall hear it
Numbers 14: 14 And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land for they have heard…”that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, by day time in a pillar of a cloud, and in a pillar of fire by night.”
If the work be of God, nothing can stop it.
The church leaders in the region said we had to find our own food. I agreed to go hungry for a week only if I could do what God commanded me to do in Muzo mountain. I knew God could give me manna to eat. Instead, He had Reuben, Mary, Peter and Jackie, and others from Kigali English church sponsor our food, supplies, baptistery and truck transport. They said we had to find our own security. I contacted the government to make sure all was in order. I did not need soldiers to guard for I know heaven has told me I have 45 angels as a body guard. The soldiers really had little to do for us but listen to meetings and give their hearts to Jesus. Once in a while a drunk one was moved out of the meeting space. We had a storage room for supplies and a room for our bed. We had willing hands fetch water, and learned how to cook over fire. Soldiers kept asking when they could be baptized. With joy we watched them follow Jesus in baptism.
Isaiah 4: 5 & 6
And the LORD will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night for upon all the glory shall be a defense. And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a covert from storm and from rain.
PP 283 says this is a prophecy of end time care of Jesus. It is the end of time and I have seen this prophecy come true. I praise God for the visible evidence of the promise of His presence till the end. Mathew 28: 19 & 20 “I am with you always even to the end of the world.”
